The Licensing Associate will have direct responsibility for providing a full range of intellectual property and technology transfer services, which will include the marketing and licensing of patents from University investigators. This individual will interact with the investigators and industrial representatives seeking to license patents from the university. This individual acts on behalf of University in negotiating agreements with industry and other universities. This individual will also educate university and community on outcomes from our technology transfer program.
Standard Duty Areas (list primary functions of the position with the percent of time generally
allocated to each)
(75%) Direct responsibility for the identification and evaluation of patents from investigators at the University, and the licensing of these patents to companies world-wide. Activities associated with these objectives are: interaction with University inventor/investigator, decision-making regarding determination of the monetary value of the patent in the appropriate market and marketing these technologies to companies. This individual acts on behalf of University in negotiating, drafting, and processing a variety of agreements including licenses, material transfer and confidentiality agreements, and administering existing agreements.
(10%) Conduct board and community educational programs related to intellectual property and technology transfer, including presentations, and the development of brochures and pamphlets for UAMS BioVentures promoting University technologies and education.
(10%) Develop reports and information for presentations and distribution to University Administration and industrial clients. Promote technology information via departmental web site and other search engine web sites. Develop and manage grant funded projects.
(5%) Represent the University at professional meetings and seminars.
