Windsor Room, Third floor, on Thursday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m-12:00 Noon
Last year we had an excellent session. Placing industry members with the university tech transfer folks in same room has been really fun.
There was a suggestion for AUTM to set up a technology or IP warehouse. Companies would prefer to go to one stop shop to get university technology instead of wondering around in huge space. I made several contacts to HQ and they sent me to VPs then back and forth. I quickly realized that is not going to happen.
If you have any suggestion as to "how to" please come to meeting and explain.
The rating of the last year's session according to AUTM HQ was between excellent and good. Some of the comments were made include:
· Excellent session
· This is an excellent forum to bring university and industry together to listen to each other and learn from another. Please continue organizing
· Dr. Yalcintas was an excellent facilitator and really shed some light on issues in communication between university and industry.
· Would have been better with a discussion guideline, but in general the audience landed on a useful topic.
I will take your suggestion and set some guidelines this year and here they are.
- Make your comments short, I will cut you off after 3 minutes
- Bring any hand out if you wish to leave your points or data with others
- As industry, what do you see as short coming of university
- As university, what would you like to ask as first thing from industry
- How would you like to draft the IP clause in research agreement (both university and industry point)
- As university, what flexibility do you have to meet industry’s needs
- Do you use ibridge
- How do you store data to similar database
Let’s keep University-Industry Research Collaboration strong and our suggestions and solutions during this SIG influential.
