AUTM Strategic Alliances Announces its 2012 Program Plan

As VP for strategic alliances, I’m looking forward to the months ahead as we kick off our 2012 program plan with several initiatives designed to improve the core goals and services of AUTM for its members.

With strategic alliances, we aim to boost AUTM’s efforts in attracting new members to enable greater networking for the entire membership, helping members find new partnership opportunities, and helping connect tech transfer service providers and corporations with university technology transfer offices (TTOs). Our key initiatives for 2012 are as follows.

A United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) program will use to help improve relations between USPTO and the university research and tech transfer community as a whole. The program will function as a community service for advocacy and membership.

A Global Technology Portal will provide a go-to place for corporations to find university technologies available for licensing. The portal will help AUTM members get more license deals, collaborative research agreements, and investments or partnership arrangements to help their startups succeed.

In addition, Regional Meetings, Sponsorship Opportunities, and an increased focus on AUTM Partnering with Other Organizations round out our plan. All of these will help improve visibility of AUTM, enhance advocacy for tech transfer, and increase cross-collaboration on a local and national scale.

These plans are just getting started, and I’ll have more to say about each of these initiatives soon. So, be sure to check back in the next few weeks for more information about these topics.
