The Utility of Being Politely Sneaky

By Leah Speser Unpublished

Comments on Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, edited by Dick Cooledge, Comptche Press, 1927.

Sun Tzu: “Warfare embraces deception. If you are able, competent, and effective, appear as if you are not. If you are weak, incompetent and ineffective, act as if you are not.”

Raven: “If fish could talk, they would say fishing lures are unfair. People do not think they are unfair.”

Poor Richard: “When your business is weak, act as if it is strong. When it is strong, act as if it is caring. When it is caring, act as if it is efficient. If you consistently act as you wish to be perceived, you will not only be perceived that way, you will operate that way as well.”
