The AUTM Leadership Forum for Advancing Discoveries is a high level forum for seasoned technology transfer professionals from around the world. Yes, especially for those of us that have been around a long time! You can register here.
The four focus areas were developed by a stellar Program Committee and designed to engage university professionals, industry colleagues and others that strive to accelerate commercialization. The four areas are:
The New Drug Discovery Paradigm: Academic-Industry Collaborations will explore developments in the evolving R&D model with a focus on what works, what has not worked, and new, creative models that address the needs of an ever changing economic, legislative and regulatory climate.
Legal, Legislative and Regulatory Issues for Industry and Universities Patent reform. Rev Proc 97-14. OMB Circular A-133. Conflict of interest compliance. Assignment and ownership of inventions. Food and Drug Administration rules and regulations for approving biosimilars. Court decisions concerning validity of patents. The list goes on and on. You thought your job was to bring new products to the market?
Innovation Initiatives abound and are more important than ever in leveraging the efforts of the technology transfer team in translating research into commercial opportunities. These and other creative innovation partnership opportunities will be woven into these sessions.
Measuring the Impact of Innovation Have we lost much of the context that should be deciding our strategies for moving forward? Are the things we measure in the future going to be more of the same “tail that wags the dog,” or will we develop meaningful measures that tell the true story behind innovation management and technology transfer? Be prepared to engage in these discussions.
Don’t forget these courses are eligible for continuing education credits toward achieving the Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) credential and for recertification of your Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) credential.
