AUTM Central Region Meeting in Louisville: July 25-27, 2011

By Mike Allan posted 03-28-2011 13:15

Greetings to the cheering throngs of individuals who are checking out my new blog.  (Thanks for reading this, Aaron!)

Okay, so maybe it's not easy to think about Louisville in July, but here in the hinterland, we're trying everything we can to conjure up warm thoughts.  Enough of winter, already!

The meeting is really coming into focus.  Thanks to the superb efforts of Holly Clark, our site chair, and her colleagues at the University of Loouhvill (*), the logistics are coming together nicely.  Jude Wilkinson and Chase Kasper, our Program chairs, are whipping the sessions (and their moderators!) into shape and we've just posted our schedule online (See http://www.autm.net/AM/Template.cfm?Section=AUTM_2011_Central_Region_Meeting&Template=/CM/ContentDisplay.cfm&ContentID=5659.)  I know, it's a lengthy URL, but it represents a lot of good stuff!

We've also taken a page out of the AUTM Annual Playbook and developed our own industry partnering initiative.  At the CRM, ours will be specifically designed around the AgBiotech and Animal Health industries to match research strengths of many of the Central Region institutions.

Hopefully, a few of you out there in blog-land will see this and tune in for future updates.  We'll be telling you more next time, and we'll also be sharing the thoughts of a bunch of our committee members with you, too.

Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Mike Allan

(*) If you attend the meeting, you too will be able to say "Loouhvill" like a true Louisvillian ...And, for extra credit, check this out: http://www.louisville.com/content/50-things-every-louisvillian-should-know.

Nice job Mike. I'm really glad to see Central adding a partnering forum - and the focus on Animal Health and Plant Science makes perfect sense given that so many Central region schools have extensive technologies in these areas. Central Rocks!

Thanks for the update, Mike (tho' I could just walk down the hall and get it in person). As a longtime fan of the Central Region Meeting, I encourage all Central Region members, esp, newcomers to the field, to attend this meeting. In addition to the fab sessions, the program (esp. the Trivia Contest) and the environment supports great networking. In fact, this is where I meet the newest AUTM members! So, start dropping hints to your boss....this is a great investment of your travel budget dollars.
